# Accounting software

> Automatic client detail updates, access to financial statements and tax arrears checks for accounting systems.

An accounting practice manages tens to hundreds of clients and for each one needs current identification details, an overview of filed statements and confidence that nothing changed without its knowledge.

## The problem

Changes in a client's details – registered office, director, VAT registration – reach the accountant late or not at all. They surface while preparing a return, which is the worst possible moment.

The overview of which client has filed a statement and which has not is kept by hand in a spreadsheet. At any real client count that is work nobody wants to do.

## How FirmAPI solves it

Store the company ID with each client and set up change notifications. A change of registered office or officer reaches you by email or webhook, not at the next contact.

The Register of Financial Statements says whether and when a statement was published. From that the software can build an overview of met and unmet obligations across the whole client portfolio.

Checking tax arrears and debts with the insurers is useful towards the client too – if they appear on a list, that is information they should hear first from their accountant.

## A client's statement history

```
GET /v1/company/ico/51636549?scope=financial_statements
{
  "financial_statements": {
    "latest": { "year": 2025, "net_turnover": 486210, "total_income": 491830 },
    "statements": [
      { "year": 2025, "net_profit": 41730 },
      { "year": 2024, "net_profit": 28104 }
    ]
  }
}
```

## Frequently asked questions

### Can a whole client portfolio be processed at once?

Yes, through batch processing. You submit a list of company IDs and collect the result when it is ready – no need to call the endpoint in a loop.

### How far back do the statements go?

Typically several years, depending on what the register has published. The statements array contains every year we hold for the company.
