# Social Insurance Agency debtors

> Find out whether a company owes the Slovak Social Insurance Agency and how much. The official debtor list, available by company ID through a REST API.

The Social Insurance Agency publishes a list of entities in arrears on contributions. It is one of the strongest public signals of payment trouble, because contributions are a fixed monthly obligation – a company that stops paying them usually has nothing to pay from.

## What the register contains
- Flag indicating whether the entity appears on the debtor list
- Amount owed in euros
- The date the list applies to

## Fields we return

| Field | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `is_debtor` | Whether the entity appears in any of the debtor lists. |
| `sources` | Array of debt records; for this register source is socialna_poistovna. |
| `debtor_name` | Entity name exactly as published in the list. |
| `debt_amount` | Amount owed in EUR. |
| `listed_since` | Date from which the entity has been on the list. |

## How to request the data

```http
GET /v1/company/ico/51636549?scope=debtor_status
{
  "debtor_status": {
    "is_debtor": false,
    "sources": []
  }
}
```

## How often we update

Weekly. Social Insurance updates its list more often than the health insurers, so we pull it once a week. The value is not real time and always carries the date from which the record has been listed.

## What it is used for

When deciding whether to supply on account, arrears on contributions are a warning sign. Combined with declining revenue from the financial statements, it is the picture of a company in difficulty.

In public procurement, being free of debt towards the Social Insurance Agency is a statutory condition of participation, so this check is part of supplier vetting.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does an empty response mean the company owes nothing?

It means it does not appear on the most recently published list. The lists have a threshold below which debt is not published, and they carry a monthly lag.

### What if the list cannot be loaded?

We return an error, not an empty result. Claiming a company is clean when we never reached the data would be more dangerous than not answering.
