# Social enterprise register

> Check whether a company holds registered social enterprise status, including the type, certificate number and date granted.

Registered social enterprise status is granted by the Slovak Ministry of Labour. It brings advantages in public procurement and in payroll levies, so it has a material effect on how a company competes and at what cost.

## What the register contains
- Whether the entity holds the status
- Type of social enterprise
- Certificate number and date granted
- Current status

## How to request the data

```http
GET /v1/company/ico/51636549?scope=social_enterprise
{
  "social_enterprise": {
    "is_registered": false,
    "type": null,
    "granted_at": null,
    "certificate_number": null,
    "status": null
  }
}
```

## How often we update

Weekly. The status is granted and withdrawn by ministerial decision, which is not a daily event.

## What it is used for

In public procurement a contract can be reserved for registered social enterprises only. Verifying the status is then a condition of participation, not a nice-to-have.

When assessing a company the status explains a different cost structure – a social enterprise has different levy advantages and a different purpose for its profit.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is a social enterprise a non-profit?

Not necessarily. A commercial company can hold registered social enterprise status. The status attaches to how profit is used and to a social purpose, not to a legal form.

### What does status mean?

The current state of the status per the register. A withdrawn status is a different situation from one never granted, so we return both pieces of information.
